Mr. Roger Kam, Chairman of our Group, represented the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce on a delegation to the Middle East
On May 6, 2023, a delegation of 26 members led by Dr. Jonathan Choi, Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC), visited Kuwait for eight days to strengthen business and trade connections between Hong Kong and Kuwait, and to promote cooperation between the two sides in the Greater Bay Area, the Middle East, and the Belt and Road markets.
Mr. Roger Kam, Chairman of our group, also participated in the talks and exchange activities as a member of the delegation, providing an important opportunity and platform for the company's cooperation with the Kuwaiti market.
During the visit, the delegation of CGCC met with the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait, Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority, and Kuwait Investment Bureau to discuss the possibility of strengthening business and trade connections between the two regions, and to provide more extensive support for cooperation between the two sides in areas such as trade, investment, innovative technology, environmental protection, real estate, and retail.
The delegation also had an exchange with the Alghanim family, a well-known entrepreneur in Kuwait, learning about the group's business in areas such as construction, defense, shipping, automotive retail, international trade, healthcare, and real estate investment, providing useful information for Hong Kong companies to expand into the Kuwaiti market.
During the visit, CGCC and Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a memorandum of understanding to further promote cooperation between Hong Kong and Kuwait in areas such as trade, investment, and innovative technology. Zhang Jianwei, the Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait, said that the strategic cooperation relationship between China and Kuwait is continuously consolidating, and the exchange and cooperation between the two sides in politics, economy, culture, and other fields are continuing to deepen. Kuwait's willingness to cooperate with China is further strengthened, which provides a bright prospect for cooperation between Hong Kong and Kuwait.
The visit of CGCC to the Middle East this time is a strong support for Hong Kong companies to expand into the international market, and also provides an important opportunity to further deepen the economic and trade cooperation between Hong Kong and countries along the Belt and Road, promote the development of the Hong Kong economy, and maintain Hong Kong's international status.
